2023 VISION
Faith Bible Church 2024 Vision
"Having a Fit Faith"
(Healthy in spirit, soul and body)
1 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. [8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the beginning of each year, there is always a push to get people to be more healthy. Many people may make new year's resolutions to exercise more and watch what they eat. Those are good goals but those goals do not seem to last long for most.
This year at FBC, we are looking to have a fit faith that encompasses the whole person. God created us in his image, which is a trinity (Genesis 1:26). We are spirit, soul and body (1Thessalonians 5:23). Most only focus on being physically fit. But to be completely or wholly fit, we need to give attention to our spirit (mentally), soul (emotionally) and body (physically).
In 2024, we will study out the biggest chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119 that is centered around our daily need of the word of God. Through this study, we will become more fit in spirit, soul and body as we apply it to our lives. We will emphasize exercising our spirit and soul over our body as bodily exercise only profits this life. But we will encourage all to have physical exercise at the level you are able to do. After all, God has only given us one body in which to serve him, so we should do our best to keep ourselves physically healthy as well.
This year's vision of having a fit faith will be our preparation for a possible missions trip to Uganda in 2025. I will be making a trip to work with leaders and pastors in May 2024.
